The prong diamond ring setting is the most widely recognized ring attatchment. It is used to attach a single solitaire diamond onto the band.
Due to it's open structure it allows plenty of light into the base of the set stone. This makes it one
of the most important settings used for fixing diamonds onto rings.
Remember under this setting
much importance is put on the solitaire, the metal used for this purpose
is unimportant. Now question comes, why this prong diamond setting is
so important? It is most important because this setting holds the diamond
securely with the ring. The point of emphasis is that while mounting
on the ring the diamond must expose to maximum light, so that the sparkle
of the diamond is maximized. Mind it, prong diamond setting is the most
delicate part of the entire process of making diamond ring, where security
gets top priority while using least amount of metal for this purpose.
To hold the diamond securely thin wires of either gold or platinum is
used. In the prong diamond setting, prongs are fitted with the center
stage of the setting to give secure hold to the diamond on it. For better
security the prongs are fitted in such a way that they put super grip
over the diamond.
