Rose Cut Diamond Rings


The name of this cut is derived from its resemblance to the opening petals (half open) of a rose bud.

The rose cut was introduced in Holland in the 16th century at a time the facet patterns in diamond cut started to be complex and diamonds were being made brighter and brighter due to the use of polishing wheel. It remained in fashion till the early 20th century.

The basic features that characterize rose cut are flat and circular shape, domed and faceted crown and a plain and flat bottom. The facets meet at a point on the center. Facets may vary in number from 3 to 24 and are arranged on the crown in a symmetrical manner.
